Cotton Council International, the HK Association of Textile Bleachers, Dyers, Printers and Finishers, Textile Council of Hong Kong and Clothing Industry Training Authority are co-organising this seminar will provide the latest update on where the cotton market is heading from the view points of different segments along textile supply chain, including raw material supply, sustainability trends, and latest textile technology issues.

 

Speakers include:

The Hon. Felix Chung, Member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong

Felix is a current member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong for the Textiles and Garment constituency since the 2012 LegCo election; he is currently the Party Leader of the Liberal Party, and Director of the Chungweiming Knitting Factory Ltd.  Since joining the knitwear garment manufacturing industry in 1988, Hon. Felix Chung and a group of garment manufacturers set up    a non-profit-making association “Hong Kong Apparel Society Limited” (HKAS) in 2001 for the promotion of the interests of the industry. Hon. Felix Chung is currently the Honour Life Chairman of HKAS.  In 2013, Felix Chung linked a group of Hong Kong investors to form a non-profit-making organization “Hong Kong Myanmar Manufacturers’ Association Limited” (HKMMA) to provide a platform for providing assistance to and uniting Hong Kong manufacturers who have or plan to set up manufacturing outfits in Myanmar. Felix Chung is the Honour Advisor of HKMMA.

 

Karin Malmstrom, China Director, Cotton Council International

Karin joined Cotton Council International (CCI) in April 2006 and is the Director for China and Northeast Asia. She heads up CCI’s trade servicing programs, supply chain marketing activities and government affairs in the region, as well as manages CCI’s offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Seoul and its representative offices in Beijing, Taipei and Osaka.

Karin, an accomplished Sinologist with over 25 years of China-related experience joined CCI from Malmstrom Associates Orient, a business and marketing and communication consultancy. Fluent and literate in Mandarin Chinese, Karin has worked in a variety of fields in China including the auto, steel and travel industries, metals and minerals trading, technology transfers, education, journalism and communications. Immediately prior to establishing Malmstrom Associates Orient, she was Director of Corporate Communications for DaimlerChrysler China, based in Beijing.

 

Melissa Bastos, Director, Market Research, Cotton Incorporated

Melissa serves as the Director, Market Research in the Corporate Strategy and Program Metrics Department of Cotton Incorporated. In her role, Melissa is responsible for directing the development of corporate performance measures, corporate strategy, and strategic research including global consumer attitudinal and behavioural studies as well as product assessments, such as the Cotton Incorporated Lifestyle MonitorTM and Retail MonitorTM research, which are conducted in the US, China, Europe, Latin America and India. For more than 15 years, Melissa has researched, analysed, and presented consumer and retail behaviors in nearly 20 countries.

 

Matthew Lai, General Manager, Panther Textile Holding

Matthew currently works as the General Manager in a well-known textile company, Panther Textile Holding. He graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic University majoring in Textile Chemistry in 1996. He is an innovative textile developer with more than two decades’ experience and specialises in cotton dyeing, finishing and whole denim processing in the industry. One of his milestones was that he patented EQUA, a sustainable textile product solution, for Panther Textile. The solution aims to remain diverse and productive indefinitely for our living environment.

 

Cobi Wong, Director, Product Development Department, Jeanswest Apparel (China) Ltd.

Cobi serves as the Director of Product Development Department in the Jeanswest Apparel (China) Ltd. He has over 15 years working experience for design and product development. Cobi is responsible for the design and develop of ladies’ and men’s casual wear collection for Jeanswest, also review and analyse the sales performance regularly, and evaluate sales strategy and design direction for consecutive improvement.

 

Ozgur Inan UNAL, Global Business Development Manager (Finishing, Asia), Archroma (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

Ozgur Inan UNAL has 20 years industry experience in textile industry with several textile dyeing & printing mills and textile chemical-dyes companies.  Before joining BASF-Turkey in 2008, he has 10 years of textile mill experiences in the field of home textile and apparel.  Mr. Ozgur Inan UNAL worked for BASF-Turkey until 2014 as the regional sales manager and technical service manager, responsible for several countries in Middle East, North Africa, Russia and Ex-Soviet Union Countries.  He was assigned as the Head of Technical Service for East Asia in 2014 based in Shanghai, and has worked for BASF China until joining Archroma in July 2015.  He is currently working for Archroma as the Global Business Development Manager for BL-Finishing responsible for Asia.  Mr. Ozgur Inan UNAL obtained the bachelor of Textile Engineering specialized in Textile Dyes and Chemicals from EGE University in Izmir- Turkey.
