Virtual Fashion Design Competition

Innovation and digital technology is transforming the fashion industry with virtual design emerging as the new industry realm. The competition is sponsored by the HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme 2019 and conducted at the “Digital Fashion Lab ” of the Clothing Industry Training Authority. It aims to bring the latest virtual fashion technologies to the community, inspire youngsters’ creativity and empower them in coping with future changes in work and society.


The competition consists of two rounds, the first and final rounds. Participants will receive professional training at each stage learning the use of virtual fashion design software.  With the software, participants will create own virtual garments with their creativity and personal style for the competition.

First Round

The participants will receive 2 hours of basic virtual fashion design software training. Within 1 hour after the training, the participants will create own virtual fashion design for the competition.

Final Round

The finalists will receive 9 hours of advanced virtual fashion design software training.  Within 3 hours after the training, they will create a set of virtual fashion design for the competition.

Notes: All the classes are full now, coming applicants will be arranged in the waiting list, and no need to pay the registration fee . Once class can be offered, the replenished applicants will be notified to pay the registration fee.

A professional judging panel will select 28 participants for the final round.

Champion: HKD$1000 and Trophy
1st Runner-up (1 no.): HKD$600 and Certificate

Most Liked Award (1 no.): HKD$300 and Certificate
Finalists (28 nos.): Prize and Certificate

The Champion, 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up and the Most Liked Award will be selected by a professional judging panel and public voting.

Enrolment fee: HK$100 (Fully refunded after completing the competition)

Terms and Conditions

  • The design works must be new and original. The disputes arising from content or copyright are determined by CITA.
  • Copyright of all the design works (including physical garments) belong to CITA and the design works will not be returned.
  • Participants must agree that all the design works (including physical garments) are available for exhibition, collection and publicity purposes.
  • The decision of the judging panel is final. CITA has the right to refuse the works that promote obscene, indecent, violent or non-conforming themes.
  • The personal data provided by the participants will be used only for this competition.
  • CITA has the right to change the above rules and information without prior notice.


For further information, please come to join the HSBC Hong Kong Community Festival “Exploring the 3D Fashion World” events held at CITA on 11 November 2019. In the Festival, the public will be able to experience the novel 3D virtual fashion technologies in the fun workshops and exhibition.
